Christina Shannon, N.D.
Dr. Christina Shannon is a board certified and licensed Naturopathic Physician. Dr. Shannon received her doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, the leading accredited institution for the study of natural medicine. Dr. Shannon's clinical work during her five years of science based training and afterwards has been focused in natural health care for women and children. Dr. Shannon is the founder of TLC Medicine, LLC and has recently joined her practice with the Mind Body Alliance at Connecticut Fertility Associates where she will lead the team of specialists in complementary and integrative medicine. In this new alliance Dr. Shannon will continue to specialize in natural healthcare for women of all ages and children. In addition, she will work closely with CFA fertility specialists to design and implement holistic health care plans for patients seeking to optimize their more traditional fertility treatments.
Dr. Shannon's specialty with women is in recognizing and treating individual variations in biochemistry that effect the whole system. Current research now supports the long tradition of naturopathic medicine that the human body functions as a network of interconnected systems. Dr. Shannon uses her knowledge of natural therapies such as diet, nutrients, botanicals, homeopathy, hydrotherapy and stress reduction in order to design individualized treatment plans to optimize wellness.
Dr. Shannon works with women in all stages of life including natural treatments for PMS, infertility, pregnancy preparation, menopause, osteoporosis and heart disease. She commonly works with women with autoimmune diseases and psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety. She also works with women on cancer prevention and with oncology patients to support them during conventional treatment.
Her work with children includes natural treatments for skin conditions, chronic ear infections, allergies, asthma, ADHD and digestive disorders. She also works with parents on food introduction for their children in order to decrease common complaints of colic and food allergies.
Dr. Shannon works collaboratively with MDs, Dos, psychotherapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists and chiropractors. She believes that communication between members of your healthcare team is an important part of integrating conventional and complementary therapies.
Dr. Shannon is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and Resolve. She is also and instructor at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy and is a certified infant massage instructor.
